Gentlemen,
I find myself suddenly in Italy... for the next 3-4 years... I've been offered my dream PhD position here, so I quit Belfast and moved over here a few weeks ago.
Apart from other factors such as lack of resources, I have been given my project timetable which includes me being on experiment for the majority of July and August, which of course clashes with the ETC. All this together means that it just doesn't make sense to continue in the same capacity with Team Ireland.
Over the past few weeks I have been discussing possible options with the small council. The upshot of this is that Eoin O'Mahony will be my successor as new Captain of the Ireland 40k Team 2015, and he will lead the selected team to battle in the Home Nations and in the ETC. I will remain in an organisational role to help ensure everything runs smoothly and Team Ireland is well prepared and looked after. The final say in all major decisions however will be the prerogative of our new captain (this includes team selection).
